• SoyCon is a social gathering event open to attendees at all ages.
• Be aware that our target audience is ages 13 and up. Some content may not be suitable for minors.
• We highly encourage attendees to participate in the various activities and events throughout the weekend.
• Please be courteous and respectful towards your fellow attendees and volunteers
• SoyCon takes place outdoors in July, so it may be a bit warm out there. Please remember to keep yourself hydrated.
• Avoid any actions that could potentially lead to or cause any harm to oneself and others around.
• Volunteers are sectioned off by color of sash. Blue is Event Ops, Red is Medic, Green is Registration, and Yellow is Security.
• SoyCon will not tolerate any illegal activities or actions. SoyCon volunteers reserves the right to notify the authorities and/or request said persons involved to leave immediately.
• SoyCon is not responsible for any events or actions that take place before or after SoyCon.
• Keep all costumes tasteful and PG. Please remember to dress accordingly and appropriately.
• Chalking on grove property is not allowed since it would be a huge hassle to clean up afterwards. We ask everyone to not bring any chalk on SoyCon grounds.
• Please see our cosplay guidelines below for more details.

• SoyCon welcomes all genres of costuming. You're welcome to wear anything from anime, manga, video games, TV shows, movies, internet memes, etc.
• All costumes should adhere to the rules of public decency. SoyCon volunteers reserves the right to request an attendee to change if necessary.
• We ask cosplayers to keep all costumes PG. Example: Yoko (Gurren Lagann) is considered a costume to be borderline of what we're looking for. No costumes more revealing than this will be allowed on SoyCon grounds.
• It would be wise to bring a back-up pair of clothing in case you wish to change out of or if asked to.
• Summer weather in the Chicagoland can be unpredictable. Please dress appropriately for hot weather. Avoid costumes that involve fur, leather, wool, and/or other heavy non-breathable materials. Example: Fully uniformed Hetalia costume or Organization XIII coats.
• Any use of body paint must be consealed properly. If you are unsure on how to use consealer, we suggest to find a cosplay without the use of body paint.

• All props, weapons, and armor must be prop checked at the event operations table upon arriving at SoyCon.
• No live steel, sharp objects, or projectiles that possibly may cause harm.
• All props should be obviously fake and/or blunt.
• All projectiles must be unloaded. Non-modified nerf guns and squirt guns are acceptable. These props still must be checked.
• No uses of silly string, flammable substances, or chemical based liquids.
• There will be no handling of flames of any kind (unless it's involving with cooking & grilling). We want to ensure the safety of our attendees and also the property of the picnic grove.
• Any item that could potentially be mistaken for an explosive or real weapon will not be allowed withn the SoyCon area .
• Please be careful handling your props around others. Avoid any possiblity of causing an injury to oneself or another attendee.
• SoyCon will not be not responsible for any lost, stolen, or broken prop(s).
• SoyCon reserves the right to confiscate or request an attendee to put away any item deemed to not be within these guidelines.
• SoyCon welcomes all videographers and photographers to attend and shoot coverage during the event.
• Feel free to shoot anytime throughout SoyCon.
• Please respect an attendee's request if they don't feel comfortable to have their photo or video taken.
• We appreciate if you;re willing to donate your photos & videos towards SoyCon. Contact Soy via email at soycon@soycon.com.
• For the health and well being of all SoyCon attendees, smoking will only be permitted in the parking lot.
• The use of alcohol and illegal substances is not permitted anywhere on site..
• SoyCon reserves the right to have an attendee leave or be contacted towards the proper authorities.
• There is a wide range of ages that attend SoyCon. Please keep this in mind and act appropriately.
• Please remember that everyone's personal space may not be the same as yours and adhere to basic social manners.
• SoyCon is not responsible for any instances of assault or harassment. However SoyCon staff does reserve the right to contact the authorities or have an attendee leave should the situation require such actions.
• Please be polite to all of your fellow SoyCon attendees.
• Repeated offenses may result in dismissal from the event for the entire weekend. SoyCon reserves the right to permanently ban an attendee from all future SoyCon events.
• No signs shall be permitted at SoyCon unless it's authorized by the event itself.
• This includes but not limited to, signs that say "Free Hugs", "Glomp Me", "Will .... For Pocky", etc.
• Signs that are obviously a part of a costume may be permitted at the discretion of our SoyCon volunteers.
