The improv masquerade is a collaboration of skits performed by various attendees at SoyCon with a twist. Contestants must develop a skit according to a random drawing of a subject. Each entrant must develop a 1-3 minute skit about that subject. Content may not be suitable for ages 13 and under.
-
Each entrant must draw only one subject at random, groups will be counted as one entrant.
-
There will be no 2nd tries, redraws, or trading with any of the other participants. Once you draw it, you're stuck with it.
-
Participants will have a preparation time after they drawn their subject. They will have one hour to prepare. After that, they will be performing depending on the order drawn.
-
Only a maximum of 5 persons per group. There will be more exceptions for any group that wants to contain more.
-
There is no double entry between the cosplay and improv masquerade. Attendees can only select one or the other.
-
Entrants have an option to cosplay so cosplay is not required in this event.
-
Time limit is restricted to minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 3 minutes. Entrants will be marked down for going under or over the time limit.
-
Props are not allowed in this category. This is an improv show, so if you need to be in use of a prop, act it out and pretend it's there.
-
Furniture are only limited to portable tables and chairs. Anything else is prohibited.
-
Content of skits should be kept at most PG-13.
-
We don't allow any tricks that could possibly cause harm to others, yourself, and everything else around. We would like to have a safe performance, not a reckless one.
-
Any material that may be offensive will be removed immediately. If judges feels the skit is too offensive, the skit will end and the entrant's turn is done.
-
Don't leave anything behind on stage. Anything that goes on stage, must be taken off offstage during entrant's turn.
-
Judges will has final word. Period.
-
Signed groups can only perform. There will be no outside participants that did not signup for the event.
-
Judges are the only ones that will give the signal to begin and end your skit. Masquerade instructions will be given once group's registration is complete.
-
